So, lovely twitter enlightened me on some interesting legislation that is currently in the US House of Representatives: this particular bill-if passed- would require radio to pay artists each time their song is played.

I am honestly unsure about where I stand on this. On one hand, cd sales are down, illegal downloading is up, and musicians trying to break into the industry are suffering... well, actually all but the musicians at the very top are suffering-sorry, I really don't feel too bad for Metallica.

However, at the same time, Clear Channel owns 1200+ radio stations in the US, & they are notorious for using payola methods(if you don't know what payola is, read up). Hell, the number of stations (not owned by Clear Channel) that are influenced by payola is probably just as large, if not larger.

Anyhow, Bam is asked about HIM, and he gave a rather interesting response. Enjoy.

I will apologize before I even begin in case anyone reading this likes Sarah Palin. In fact, you probably shouldn't even read this, but I was not the one who originally posted the following content; Vanity Fair did. No joke.

Behind the cut, you'll find a transcript of Ms. Palin's speech from Independence Day weekend when she announced her resignation as Alaska's governor. It has been edited by the Vanity Fair staff. In red are edits by Vanity Fair's executive literary editor Wayne Lawson. A representative from V.F.'s research department wrote in green. Lastly, blue is from a representative from V.F.'s copy department.

This was first posted online 20 July 2009. It's worth a look even if you don't read the entire thing :)

So, I'm being a complete dumb ass right now, and instead of focusing on my take home government exam (due in less then 7 hours) like a good girl who does actually want to get into nursing school would do, I'm here posting. 'Why am I being such an idiot and pulling an allnighter rather then finish up and take an hour's nap before my 9am class?" you ask. Well, *clears throat* this would be because I happened to accidentally stumble upon (aka Pandora decided to play) a riveting song that managed to seep into my stream of consciousness as I sat writing (one of) my (many) essay(s, causing me to pause my current work so as to focus my attention on discovering the genius behind the song.

'So, just what song was I listening to?' you inquire, 'And just who was it by?' Ah, dear one, the song was "Out of Control," by Kenna. I strongly encourage you to check this guy out. I'm already planning on buy his album later on today--assuming I'm not passed out in bed from exhaustion. I also reccommend checking out the songs "Sun Red Sky Blue" and "Baptized in Blacklight." All three songs I mentioned are on the album Make Sure They See My Face, released in October of 2007.

Harry Potter

actor tells

of swine flu fear

by AFP   July 6, 2009

megan fox returns to her hotel, following the 'transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen' premiere, when a young fan attempts to hand her a rose in London, England. June 15, 2009. Will Alexander/WENN.com; Actor Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, spoke Monday of his fears after contracting swine flu, saying he initially thought he might die.

Grint described contracting the A(H1N1) virus, which has spread around the world, as "quite scary" but he recovered after spending a few days in bed.

"It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu," he said at a press conference with other Potter actors including Emma Watson in London.

"I thought 'Am I going to die?' But it was just like any other flu really."

"I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days."

Grint was speaking ahead of the world premiere in London on Tuesday of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", the sixth instalment of the phenomenally successful Harry Potter films.

The 20-year-old's publicist confirmed on Saturday that he had suffered from the virus, taking several days off filming the next movie in the blockbuster series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Four people have died in Britain of swine flu, and the country has Europe's highest number of reported cases with nearly 7,500.

The government has warned that figure could rise to over 100,000 new cases a day by the end of August.

The weather was shit. No, truly, it was. 100 degrees + humidity + little wind + dust + scarce shade = me leaving at 3pm after watching Anti-Flag at the main stage.

So, basically, the bands I watched were all very good, but the weather was killing everyone. The groups I enjoyed the most were Born to Lose ( a punk band from Austin, TX), Superman Is Dead (kick ass band from Bali, Indonesia<<check these guys out, they rock!), and Anti-Flag. Born to Lose and Superman is Dead were both playing on the Kevin Says Stage early on in the day.

I had wanted to see Bad Religion quite desperately, and my buddy wanted to see 3Oh!3, but alas, it didn't happen.

Well, little ole me did the dirty work (AKA searching & saving & uploading) & found some treasures. Here's one to tempt you, the rest are off in neverland ;)
